IGN agrees deal for Gamer Network sites, including Eurogamer and GI.biz

Gamer Network, the family of games media brands including Eurogamer and GamesIndustry.biz, has been acquired by IGN Entertainment.

The UK-based games media company has been acquired for an unknown sum from ReedPop, the Pax and New York Comic-Con organiser, which acquired it in 2018.

The news was shared on Tuesday, along with confirmation that the acquisition would result in redundancies across the organisation. Events such as EGX and MCM will remain with ReedPop.

Gamer Network’s publications include GamesIndustry.biz, Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, VG247 and Dicebreaker. The business also holds shares in Outside Xbox, Digital Foundry and Hookshot (which operates Nintendolife, PushSquare, PureXbox and Time Extension).

Gamer Network is also the commercial partner of this website, VGC, under contract. However, 1981 Media Ltd privately owns the website.

IGN Entertainment is the division of Ziff Davis that includes IGN, MapGenie, HowLongToBeat, and Humble Bundle.
