Yooka-Laylee is getting a remaster called Yooka-Replaylee
The current-gen update adds improved camera and controls and new challenges
Playtonic‘s platformer Yooka-Laylee is getting a current gen remaster.
Yooka-Replaylee is an enhanced version of the 2017 game, handled by “the same key creative talent” behind the original.
The new version offers overhauled art and animations, as well as “enhanced performance and resolution”.
Improvements have been made to the game’s controls and camera, two of the areas where the original game received the most criticism.
Coins have also been added to the game, to give the player a new currency to collect and spend at Vendi, the sentient vending machine.
Vendi will once again offer the player Tonics, which act as game modifiers. Multiple Tonics can now be equipped at once, and new Tonics have been added.
Existing in-game challenges have been improved, and new challenges have been added. Tehre’s also a new world map and challenge tracker, to help players better figure out where they are and what they still have to do in the game.
The game’s original score from Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) and David Wise (Donkey Kong Country) returns, but this time as an orchestral score.
PlayTonic will hold a Q&A session on its YouTube channel on June 11 to discuss Yooka-Replaylee and answer questions players may have about the remaster.
