Yooka-Laylee Impossible Lair is free on Epic Games Store
2019 sequel is the final free game download in Epic’s Christmas promotion
The Epic Games Store is offering Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair for free on the final day of its ’12 Days of Free Games’ promotion.
Impossible Lair launched in October and is billed as a “platforming adventure hybrid” featuring 40 levels, including alternate versions, and an overworld with secrets and puzzles found throughout.
It’s free on the Epic Games Store until 11am ET / 8am PT / 4pm UK on January 1 and can be kept forever by those who download it. The game’s also available on Steam, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One.
The Epic Games Store holiday sale will run until the evening of January 1.
As well as various discounts, Epic is offering a $10/£10 store coupon with every game purchase of $14.99/£14.99 or above during the sale period (full details can be found here).
Epic has been giving away free games on its digital storefront throughout 2019. According to its storefront, the promotion will continue with two more free titles available from January 1.
The company originally launched a bi-monthly free game offer in December 2018 but said in mid-May that it was increasing the frequency of the offer to one free game per week until the end of 2019.
An Epic spokesperson told VGC in December they didn’t have any plans they could share when asked if the free games promotion will be extended beyond 2019.
Titles offered for free have included Alan Wake, For Honor, Limbo, This War of Mine, Overcooked, World of Goo, Transistor, The Witness, Hyper Light Drifter, Fez, Inside, Celeste, Metro 2033 Redux, Minit and Observer.
Epic said on May 1 there had been more than 25 million free game installs. It didn’t have an updated figure to share when contacted by VGC.
