Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair release date revealed
Platforming adventure sequel set for early October launch
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be released on October 8, 2019 according to a product listing on Nintendo Australia’s website.
The platforming adventure sequel’s release date has yet to be officially revealed, although developer Playtonic recently confirmed an October launch window.
UPDATE 03/09: Playtonic has announced an October 8 release date for the Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC game, as well as four exclusive pre-order bonus tonics: Yooka 64, Largee Head, D.I.S.C.O and Glowworm.
Nintendo’s website says the file size of the Switch digital version weighs in at 4.6GB.
UK-based Playtonic was established by Rare veterans in 2014. It raised over £2 million through Kickstarter for its first project, 2017’s Yooka-Laylee, a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie.
“Yooka and Laylee must combine their abilities to take on a series of challenging and vibrant 2.5D levels, and explore and solve puzzles in a beautiful 3D overworld,” according to the game’s official announcement.
Impossible Lair’s set to feature 40 levels in total, including alternate versions, with secrets and puzzles found throughout the title “dynamically” transforming the game world.
As part of a recent feature on the game’s soundtrack, Playtonic said it has created unique pieces of music for each new landscape.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is available to pre-order now at both Amazon and Game.
