Yoko Taro fan archive shutting down following Square Enix cease and desist

Accord’s Library, a fan archive of the work of NieR director Yoko Taro, is shutting down following a legal notice from Square Enix.

The website, which collects and archives works related to Drakengard and Nier, will be forced to close its doors at the end of October, it’s claimed.

“Dearest Recorders and Observers of Accord’s Library,” began a message posted to Discord.

“These past few years have been a pleasure, but we regret to inform you all that we’ve been contacted by the Square Enix Legal Team.

“And after some private communication, based on the outlined requirements we have come to the conclusion that Accord’s Library must close its doors by the end of the month.”

The website will remain open until October 31, when it will be closed permanently.

“While we are sad to have to go, we also must respect the wishes of the Legal Team.”

Accord’s Library describes itself as “a small group of Yoko Taro’s fans that decided to join forces and create a website and a community.”

“We started with the goal of gathering and archiving as much side-materials/merch as possible. But since then, our ambition grew and we decided to create a full-fledged website that will also include news articles, lore, summaries, translations, and transcriptions. Hopefully one day, we will be up there in the list of notable resources for Drakengard and NieR fans.​”

Last year Nier series producer Yosuke Saito said the series would continue for as long as Taro remained alive, but that the pair are currently working on a different project separate from Nier.
