Yakuza 8 is officially titled Like A Dragon 8 starring Kiryu and Ichiban
The game is planned for release in 2024
Yakuza 8 will officially be titled Like A Dragon 8, seemingly dropping the Yakuza title.
Revealed during the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Summit live stream by executive producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, the trailer gave a brief look at Kiryu and Ichiban, who will both star in the game.
Like a Dragon 8 will arrive in 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and Steam. The game will once again be an RPG, and will feature dual protagonists according to Yokoyama.
“The scale of the game is really big, it’s going to be the largest game to date,” Masayoshi Yokoyama said during the Q&A following the reveal.
“The game is about Kiryu who has all of his past on his back and Ichiban who has all of the future ahead of him. We felt we had to bring back Kiryu for that theme.”
The game will release in 2024, but RGG Studio is keen to emphasize that the game is still in development. “We’re still in the process of recording the lines,” said Masayoshi Yokoyama.
Like a Dragon 8 is one of three Yakuza titles announced ahead of Tokyo Game Show, including Like a Dragon Ishin and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 were made available last month as part of August’s Game Catalog line-up for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.
Also coming later this year for PlayStation Plus Premium members are Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered and Yakuza 5 Remastered, while Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will be made available for Extra and Premium members.
