Xbox says none of its first-party Showcase trailers will be ‘full CG’
Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg claims every Xbox Game Studios trailer will be at least partly in-engine
None of the first-party trailers shown during next weekend’s Xbox Games Showcase will consist entirely of CG footage, it’s claimed.
After tweeting on Sunday that there was seven days to go until the Showcase, Xbox VP of games marketing Aaron Greenberg was asked by a follower if the showcase would feature gameplay for announced titles and CG trailers for unannounced titles.
“None of our first-party games in the show are full CG trailers,” Greenberg replied. “Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be labeled so it is hopefully clear for our fans.”
It’s not clear if Greenberg’s comment was in reference to the recent PlayStation Showcase, which opened with an entirely CG trailer for upcoming PlayStation Studios title Fairgame$.
Greenberg also told another follower that “there will be no movie trailers in our games show”, a possible reference to the Gran Turismo trailer which was shown during the PlayStation Showcase.

This summer’s Xbox Games Showcase will take place on Sunday, June 11, and will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm CET.
The Showcase will immediately be followed by a Starfield Direct presentation, focusing solely on Bethesda‘s upcoming Xbox exclusive Starfield.
The Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct combined will run for around two hours, Greenberg confirmed.
Last month Xbox boss Phil Spencer told Kinda Funny Games’ Xcast podcast that the company failed to deliver on what it showed during last year’s Showcase presentation, but said he was “very enthusiastic” about this year’s show.
During the interview, Spencer was given a list of upcoming games that had been announced a while back but have seen little information since, including Avowed, Perfect Dark, Everwild, Fable, State of Decay 3 and Contraband.
“We’re going to announce some things that people haven’t seen, some new games, [and] we’re going to give updates to some of the things that were on your list,” Spencer replied.
