Xbox reveals Barbie Xbox Series S
Players can try to win it in a competition next month
Microsoft is giving away a special Xbox Series S designed to look like a Barbie Dreamhouse.
The console has been created for a competition which will be taking place on the Xbox Twitter account and the Microsoft Rewards page on July 10.
Players will also have the chance to win special Xbox Wireless Controller faceplates designed to look like Barbie and Ken’s outfits.
The console and controller faceplates are part of a series of events being held by Xbox to promote the Barbie movie.
As initially spotted last week (and now officially confirmed), two Barbie-themed cars have been added to Forza Horizon 5.
To claim the 1956 Chevrolet Corvette EV and the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, players have to go to the in-game Message Center, where they’ll be able to get them both for free.
A livestream aimed at young girls will also take place on July 14 on the official World of Barbie account, where developers who’ve worked on the Forza franchise will talk about “their own career journeys, motivations, and personal Barbie connections”.
Xbox will also be holding another competition, where fans can win one of 10 special Barbie dolls.
Each of the dolls, which are “reflective of the Barbie line, which is the most diverse doll line on the market”, is wearing Xbox-themed clothes and comes with accessories including an Xbox Series S, Xbox Wireless Controller and Adaptive Controller.
The dolls will be available as part of an international sweepstakes, though it’s not yet clear when this will take place.
The Forza Horizon 5 promotion may seem somewhat odd, but does make some sense given that Barbie is owned by Mattel, the toy manufacturer also responsible for the Hot Wheels brand.
Forza Horizon 5 received a Hot Wheels expansion in July last year, as did Forza Horizon 3 in 2017, so Mattel’s relationship with the series is a long-running one.
