Xbox and Adidas have partnered to create a series of sneakers designed to celebrate the console brand’s 20th anniversary.

The first design to be revealed, the Xbox 20th Forum Tech, features “translucent green details inspired by the special edition release of the original Xbox console for the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001”.

Xbox consumer products marketing manager James Monosmith said more sneakers inspired by past and present Xbox console generations will be released over the coming months, “including the first-ever sneaker available for purchase by our fans later this year”.

The launch trailer for the partnership celebrates skateboarding culture, “the era of play most prevalent when we launched the first Xbox console”, he added.

Details of Xbox’s collaboration with Adidas leaked in May. At the time, documents obtained by Complex suggested the first sneakers to be released would be a promo version of the Forum Tech Boost.

These would be followed by two pairs of Adidas Forum Mid basketball sneakers, and the release of the Forum Tech in November, it was claimed.

Sony and Nike confirmed a collaboration in May which saw the pair team up with basketball star Paul George to create basketball sneakers based on the design of the PS5.
