Xbox Live reportedly suffers more outages than PSN, but neither come close to Steam
Research finds gaming websites to be among the most prone to outages
Steam, Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network are among the top 10 websites most prone to outages in the US and UK, it’s been claimed.
That’s according to research conducted by ToolTester using outage detector website Downdetector.
ToolTester recently published a list of what it says were the 30 websites that experienced the most outages during the 12-month period ended June 25, 2021.
In the US, Discord topped the list with 129 outages, while Steam placed second with 99 outages.
39% of Steam outage reports were related to the website going down, just ahead of online gaming problems, which accounted for 38% of reports.
On the console front, Microsoft’s Xbox Live service suffered 63 outages, with 65% of reports related to online gaming being unavailable.
PlayStation Network took ninth place on the list with 49 outages, with 64% of outage reports linked to users being unable to log in.
In the UK, Sky topped the list with 268 outages, ahead of fellow internet service providers Virgin Media and TalkTalk.
Steam placed fourth on the list with 177 outages, with 37% of problems reported because users were unable to log in successfully.
Xbox Live experienced 102 outages, with online gaming problems accounting for 68% of reports.
As in the US, PlayStation Network placed ninth. It suffered 90 outages, with log in issues accounting for 49% of outage reports.
