Xbox has kicked off its big holiday season marketing campaign with a new live action trailer titled ‘Wake Up and Dream’.

Viewable below, the trailer will debut today in the US during Thursday Night Football on Prime Video and air globally over the coming months.

According to Microsoft, it’s “an immersive adventure story, inspired by gamers and their dreams – going beyond imagination, and capturing the fun, joy, community and love we all share for our favorite games and epic gaming moments experienced with friends”.

The trailer features a custom score by Son Lux, a BAFTA-nominated band, and Academy Award nominee for the musical score to the film Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The ‘Xbox Power Your Dreams’ brand campaign kicked off in October 2020 ahead of the Xbox Series X/S launch the following month.

Xbox has just embarked on a new chapter after closing its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard last week, in what was Microsoft’s and the game industry’s biggest deal to date.

The acquisition saw Microsoft take control of franchises including Call of Duty, Warcraft and Diablo, and establish a significant foothold in mobile gaming, notably with the addition of Candy Crush maker King.

Other developers which have joined Xbox Game Studios as part of the deal include Infinity Ward, Raven Software, Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch, Toys for Bob, Beenox and High Moon Studios.

Microsoft’s head of gaming recently discussed how the company plans to approach utilising Activision Blizzard’s back catalogue of games.

Phil Spencer said he would be fully supportive of studio’s revisiting older titles if it was a direction they wanted to take, “because I think there’s just an amazing trove of things that we can go and touch again”, but suggested doing so wasn’t something that Xbox would mandate.
