Xbox is launching a Mastercard credit card in the US
It will be available to Xbox Insiders this month and other players in 2024
Microsoft has announced plans to launch an Xbox Mastercard in the United States.
Issued by Barclays, the no annual fee credit card will be available beginning on September 21, 2023, for Xbox Insiders, and next year for all Xbox players.
“The Xbox Mastercard allows cardmembers to earn card points with everyday purchases and redeem those points on games and add-ons at xbox.com,” said Dave McCarthy, corporate vice president of Xbox player services.
Cardholders will earn 5X points on qualifying purchases within the Microsoft Store, and 3X points across eligible dining delivery services including Grubhub and DoorDash, and streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.
Players will be able to choose from five card designs and customise their Mastercard with their Xbox gamertag.
After their first purchase they’ll receive 5,000 card points (a $50 value), plus three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new members, which can also be gifted.
APR rates range from 20.99% to 31.99% (see the full terms and conditions).
Starfield was released last week and appears to have broken Microsoft‘s record for the biggest launch day for an Xbox Game Studios title.
Over six million people played the game by the end of its first official day of release, including over one million concurrent players, according to the platform holder.
