Xbox has released a new trailer for Fable, starring a giant Richard Ayoade
The teaser claims to be running in-engine
Xbox has shown a new trailer for its upcoming Fable game.
Developed by Playground Games, the new title (which is still simply titled Fable at the moment) was officially announced in 2020, but nothing has been since since then.
The new trailer, which claims to be running in-engine, shows The IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade telling the game’s story.
He’s then interrupted by the game’s protagonist, at which point it emerges that either Ayoade is a giant, or the protagonist is tiny.

After a lengthy period of speculation, Microsoft officially announced in July 2020 that a new Fable game was in the works for Xbox Series X/S and PC, but nothing more had been seen of the game until today.
Playground Games, which is usually known for its Forza Horizon series of open-world racing games, had been staffing up for an RPG project for several years and in total some 200 people are understood to be working on Fable at its Leamington Spa studio.
Back in 2021, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said players should be confident in the quality of the game given Playground’s pedigree.
“The only thing I can really say about Fable is, seeing the pedigree of the team and Playground, and where they set the bar for themselves in building a game – I think that showed with the Forza Horizon 5 preview that they had,” Spencer said.
“I think people should just take confidence in that [studio director] Gavin [Raeburn] and the team there have that same level of focus on doing something amazing with an IP that we know is really important to a lot of Xbox fans, so we can’t wait to get to show more, but the team is just amazing.”
