Xbox Game Pass just added one of last year’s best games
Balatro has been added to Microsoft’s subscription service
One of last year’s Game of the Year nominees, Balatro, has been added to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has announced.
The news was shared during an ID@Xbox showcase on Monday, when publisher Playstack shared the latest DLC for the game.
Balatro: Friend of Jimbo Pack 4 will add more new customizations to the popular card game, including cards based on Bugsnax, Civilization, Assassin’s Creed, Fallout, Friday the 13th, and more.
Previous Balatro DLC packs added cards based on Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, Among Us, and others.
Balatro received five nominations at The Game Awards, including Game of the Year, winning three categories (Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Mobile Game).
Celebrating two million copies sold last year, developer LocalThunk revealed that the game’s first major update would be coming in 2025.
“This update will bring new ideas and strategies to the game and as a token of huge appreciation to the game’s brilliant and passionate community, the update will be completely free,” they wrote.
VGC’s Balatro review called it “gaming’s best time thief since Vampire Survivors”.
“Balatro is an astonishingly addictive take on Poker that’s utterly impossible to put down,” we wrote. “Occasional difficulty spikes aside, it’s a piece of simplistic genius that we’ll keep on our Steam Deck forever.”
