Xbox Game Pass is adding Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle remasters in October
Classic LucasArts adventure games will be available for console, PC and Android
Grim Fandango Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Full Throttle Remastered will join Xbox Game Pass on October 29.
Double Fine’s remasters of the classic LucasArts adventure games will be available for Xbox consoles, Windows 10 PC, and for Android users (who require an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription).
Originally released in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a time travel puzzle adventure game which sees players attempt to stop a purple tentacle with a thirst for world domination.
First released in 1995, Full Throttle is a graphic adventure game which tells the story of biker gang leader Ben Throttle, “who gets caught up in a tale of motorcycles, mayhem, and murder”. It was Double Fine founder Tim Schafer’s first game as project lead.
One of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time, 1998’s Grim Fandango combines film noir and Mexican folklore as it tells the story of four years in the after-life of Manny Calavera, travel agent at the Department of Death.
Schafer discussed his work on the three games and their remasters in a new podcast with Microsoft’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb. We’ve timestamped the relevant section in the following below.
Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, Heave Ho, Katana Zero, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, and The Swords of Ditto: Mormo’s Curse joined Game Pass on October 15. They’ll be followed by ScourgeBringer on October 21, and Cricket 19 and Supraland on October 22.
Microsoft recently confirmed it’s working to bring Xbox Game Pass streaming to console and PC.
The company’s public technology preview for cloud gaming, which was previously referred to as Project xCloud, launched in beta in September as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
With a compatible controller, it enables users to play over 100 Xbox games on Android devices directly from the cloud.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get an EA Play membership at no additional cost beginning on November 10, which is when Xbox Series X/S launch.
