Xbox confirms it’s bringing two real-time strategy games to PS5 this year
Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition are coming to Sony’s console
Xbox has announced plans to release Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition for PlayStation 5.
The real-time strategy games will hit Sony’s console this year alongside the launch of new expansions for both titles, which are currently available on Xbox and PC.
PS5 players will be able to play Age of Mythology: Retold when the game’s released on March 4, followed by Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition this spring.
“I’m delighted to share that we are giving fans more choice to play where they want by bringing Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Mythology: Retold to PlayStation 5,” said Michael Mann, head of Xbox’s World’s Edge studio.
“Playing across all platforms is a game-changer for our franchise, and it’s all about bringing our community together. This isn’t just about convenience—it’s about growing and strengthening the Age community. With cross-play, we’re creating one global battlefield where every strategy, every empire, and every player matters.”
Forza Horizon 5 will also be released for PS5 this spring, Microsoft announced last week. The port is being handled by Panic Button, in partnership with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios, and will contain all the content available in the Xbox and PC versions of the game.
Following Indiana Jones and the Great Circle‘s Xbox Series X/S and PC release in December, Microsoft-owned Bethesda will be bringing the game to PS5 this spring too.
