WWE 2K23 has been officially confirmed for a March release
John Cena Showcase and WarGames are among the new features
2K has announced that WWE 2K23 will release for consoles and PC on March 17, with those who purchase premium versions gaining access three days earlier on March 14.
As previously leaked, the game will feature John Cena on the cover of all four versions – the Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Edition, Deluxe Edition and Icon Edition.
A pre-order bonus will also unlock the ability to play as global music star Bad Bunny.
Notable modes include a new 2K Showcase featuring John Cena, and the WarGames event.
According to 2K, the Showcase mode will span 20 years of John Cena’s career and will be narrated by Cena himself.
The WarGames mode, meanwhile, will offer 3v3 and 4v4 matches in the unique WarGames structure, consisting of two rings side-by-side inside a steel cage.
Other new features include online multiplayer in MyFaction and an enhanced MyGM mode with new show options and new GMs to choose from.
WWE 2K23 will be released in four separate editions:
- the Standard Edition will include the game
- the Cross-Gen Edition will include both last-gen and current-gen versions of the Standard Edition
- the Deluxe Edition will include a Season Pass for all five post-launch DLC packs, the MyRISE Mega-Boost and SuperCharger, Ruby John Cena MyFACTION Evo Card, Gold Edge MyFACTION Card, Emerald Bianca Belair MyFACTION Card, Gold Asuka MyFACTION Card, and three Basic Premium Launch MyFACTION Card Packs
- the Icon Edition will include all Deluxe Edition content plus the Ruthless Aggression pack, which includes John Cena’s early “Prototype” character, as well as “Leviathan” Batista, developmental rookie versions of Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton, the John Cena Legacy Championship and WrestleMania 22 Arena.
In VGC’s WWE 2K22 review we called it the “comeback fans have been praying for”, and said that the “in-ring gameplay […] is such an enormous improvement over its predecessor that the sighs of relief from the fanbase will be palpable.”
