Wreckfest 2 hits Steam Early Access in March

The PC version of Wreckfest 2 will receive a Steam Early Access release on March 20, 2025, it’s been confirmed.

Announced last summer, the demolition derby-style racer is being developed by Wreckfest and FlatOut studio Bugbear, and published by its parent company THQ Nordic.

At release next month it will include the base game modes of Racing, Derby and Multiplayer. And during the Early Access phase, Bugbear will add a revamped career mode, plus a new skill-based matchmaking system and server queues for online races.

The sequel will also be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S at a later date.

“Brace yourself for the most phenomenal full-contact racing action with no rules, just jaw dropping moments of chaos and destruction, powered by the completely overhauled physics engine,” reads a description on the game’s official website.

“Race in intense head-to-head fights on high-speed circuits, face obstacles on crazy courses with jumps, intersections and oncoming traffic, or go for demolition domination in various derby arenas.”

The original Wreckfest was released for PC in June 2018 before making its way to PS4 and Xbox One in 2019, to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021, and to Nintendo Switch in 2022.

It was well received by critics, earning it scores of 81 (PC), 83 (Xbox One), 82 (PS4), 79 (PS5) and 71 (Xbox Series X/S) on review aggregation site Metacritic.
