When is the World of Warcraft Dragonflight release date? Thanks to a Blizzard announcement live stream, we now have a rough idea when the next WoW expansion could launch, along with its beta date, giving players access to new content such as flying mounts.

The Dragonflight release date will introduce World of Warcraft’s first ever combination race and class: dracthyr Evokers. Blizzard also says it’s overhauling many of WoW’s underlying systems to ensure it continues to offer the type of experience that players expect for the coming years.

The expansion’s biggest new feature is Dragonriding, a new skill-based method of aerial movement that allows players to take to the skies on the back of their own Dragon Isles Drake, which can be customised as they progress.

Dragonflight will introduce new areas in the Dragon Isles. Dragon Isle takes place across four new zones; the Waking Shores, the Ohn’ahran Plains; the frosty peaks of the Azure Span; and the spires and temples of Thaldraszus.

The new World of Warcraft expansion will also feature a talent system revamp, new level cap, improved professions and updated UI, according to Blizzard.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight release date

While Blizzard didn’t announce a World of Warcraft Dragonflight release date during its recent reveal stream, Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be released later this year.

World of Warcraft has received a new expansion roughly every two years since its 2004 launch, and last got one in November 2020 in the form of Shadowlands. This could suggest Dragonflight might be due in November 2022, but this is not confirmed.

The World of Warcraft Dragonflight premiered on April 19, offering the first look at the new WoW expansion. The Dragonflight trailer offers a cinematic look at the world of the Dragon Isles, and introduces the new Drake flying feature players will be able to use on its release date.

While it shows no gameplay, the trailer offers a cinematic look at the expansion and its more fantasy-leaning tone. “Players have been eager to revisit World of Warcraft’s high-fantasy roots, and they’re going to find just that in Dragonflight, with a deeper exploration of Warcraft’s iconic dragons and a thrilling adventure into their legendary homeland,” said Blizzard president Mike Ybarra.

World of Warcraft Dragonflight beta

If you want to join the World of Warcraft Dragonflight beta, you can already sign up for the beta test over on Blizzard’s website. No pre-order plans have been announced for the expansion, but the beta should offer an early glimpse at what it has to offer.

There’s currently no release date for the World of Warcraft Dragonflight beta, but it’s possible the test will go live later this year.

In order to join the Dragonflight beta, click over the Blizzard’s website and opt in via the button its website. You’ll need to sign into your Battle.net account, after which Blizzard will confirm your application to join in.
