World of Warcraft 2024 roadmap confirms The War Within’s launch window
The game’s new expansion will arrive by early autumn next year
Blizzard has released its 2024 roadmap for new World of Warcraft content, which is viewable below.
Writing on the game’s official website, executive producer Holly Longdale said three more content updates are planned for the title’s latest expansion, Dragonflight, before its follow-up The War Within launches.
“Dragonflight Season 4 will revisit Dragonflight’s dungeons and raids, along with outdoor content, featuring updated rewards, and a few new twists.
“Then, in the Spring/Summer, we’ll ask for your feedback when the War Within expansion alpha and beta tests drop.”
The new expansion is scheduled to launch in late summer or early autumn 2024.
Longdale also detailed next year’s plans for World of Warcraft Classic.
“In WoW Classic, we have updates coming for Classic Hardcore with ‘Solo Self Found’ support in February as a new way to challenge players and add a little more hardcore into your Hardcore. Lok’tar ogar!
“We’ll also have more phases to release in Season of Discovery next year as the adventure continues. And, of course, Cataclysm Classic is right around the corner in the first half of next year!”
Blizzard announced three new World of Warcraft expansions at BlizzCon last month, while confirming that Cataclysm would come to World of Warcraft Classic next year.
The Worldsoul Saga, which is described as an “epic story that celebrates the first 20 years of World of Warcraft and sets new foundations for Azeroth’s future”, will start with The War Within.
It will be followed by the second and third entries in the Worldsoul Saga, ‘Midnight’ and ‘The Last Titan’.
