What will PlayStation announce in today’s State of Play?

PlayStation’s latest State of Play live stream will kick off tonight, Wednesday, February 12, from 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT, with news and announcements on upcoming games.

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment, the event will last for around 40 minutes and feature “news and updates on great games coming to PS5”. You can watch the show live via the video embedded at the top of this page.

So what can viewers expect from the latest State of Play? Looking back at previous early-year events, Sony typically focuses on titles planned for release during the first half of the calendar year.

For example, last January, a State of Play featured deep dives on Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, plus looks at Death Stranding 2 and Silent Hill 2.

And in February 2023, a State of Play focused on third-party titles such as Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Sony is planning to publish Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei in 2025, while Marvel’s Wolverine and Fairgames don’t yet have release windows.

Earlier this week, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was rated in South Korea, as Hideo Kojima teased that he’s been working on a new trailer.

Another potential reveal could involve remasters of classic Resident Evil games. Recently, the ESRB classified Resident Evil 6 for Xbox Series X/S, as well as Resident Evil 5 for modern consoles, suggesting both titles could be coming consoles soon.

It’s also suggested that Bungie’s Smash Bros. inspired MOBA, ‘Gummy Bears’, could be due for a reveal. Little is officially known about Gummy Bears, other than what can be gleaned from concept art released from the studio. Previously, it was in development alongside Marathon, Bungie‘s shooter revival.

Astro Bot developer Team Asobi also previously told VGC it had DLC challenge levels planned for the game, which are yet to be announced.
