Viewfinder gets a release date and PS5 demo
Players can sample the puzzle game now ahead of its summer release
Viewfinder has received a release date and a PlayStation 5 demo.
The puzzle game, which is developed by Sad Owl Studios and being published by Thunderful Publishing, will be released for PS5 on July 18.
Billed as “a mind-bending first person adventure game in which you can reshape reality by placing found objects into the world”, Viewfinder is also coming to Steam this year.
Console players can try the game today by downloading a newly released PS5 demo.
In the game, the player uses a Polaroid-style camera to take photos of their surroundings.
They can then hold these photos up and make their contents appear in real life, transforming the world’s perspective in the process.
“Solve open-ended puzzles that encourage thinking outside the box as you gradually master your abilities,” reads an official description of the game. “Get creative, exploring the possibilities of the mechanic and warping your environments into surreal Escheresque dreamscapes.
“The game is set within a colourful retrofuturistic utopia inspired by brutalism and impressionism. Uncover this world’s mysteries as you’re drawn into a story exploring themes of transhumanism and utopianism. Along your adventure discover bizarre illusions, interactive gadgets and hidden secrets.”
