Valve is selling a limited edition white Steam Deck OLED next week

Valve has announced that it will be selling a special white edition of the Steam Deck.

The Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White will be available for sale on November 18 at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm GMT.

According to Valve, the white edition will only be available in limited quantities, with “stock allocated proportionally across all regions”.

Customers will be limited to one unit per account, and once all stock has been sold Valve will “not be making more of this particular design”.

Other than appearance, the handheld will essentially be the same as a standard black-coloured 1TB Steam Deck OLED.

“Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White has all the same specs as the Steam Deck OLED 1TB model, but in white and grey,” Valve says. “It also comes with an exclusive white carrying case and white microfiber cleaning cloth.”

The only other difference the white version has over the standard black version is price. While the standard Steam Deck OLED 1TB costs $649 / £569, the Limited Edition White version will cost $679 / £599, meaning players will pay a $30 / £30 premium.

Valve announced the Steam Deck OLED roughly a year ago, on November 9, 2023. The updated model replaced the launch version’s 7″ LCD screen with a new 7.4″ OLED one, delivering brighter colours and darker blacks while also supporting HDR.

It also improved other components, including a longer battery life, an upgrade from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 6E, improved thermals and a larger fan, and weighs 30g less than the standard Steam Deck.

However, at the time of its announcement Steam Deck product designer Lawrence Yang said the OLED is merely an upgraded version of the initial model, and that the team was still working on a ‘Steam Deck 2’, which will feature a “next-generation” upgrade in power, but still wouldn’t be available for “at least two or three years”.
