Valve has said it’s doubling weekly Steam Deck shipments

Valve has said it’s planning to significantly ramp up Steam Deck shipments starting this week.

Steam Deck launched in February following a two-month delay caused by material shortages and Valve is currently working to fulfil a backlog of orders.

The backlog means new orders placed today won’t ship until after October 2022, according to the Steam Deck product page.

“Some great news on the production front,” Valve said on Monday. “We just sent the last batch of Q2 emails, and we’ll start sending Q3 reservation emails on the 30th.

“Production has picked up, and after today we’ll be shipping more than double the number of Steam Decks every week!”

Customers are being given 72 hours from receipt of their order email to purchase a Steam Deck or their reservation will be passed to the next person waiting.

Steam Deck prices start at $399 / £349 (64GB eMMC), with increased storage options available for $529 / £459 (256GB NVMe SSD) and $649 / £569 (512GB NVMe SSD).

The Steam Summer Sale launched last week and is running until July 7. It includes savings on tens of thousands of games, according to Valve.

Featured offers include Naraka Bladepoint for £12.59 (30% off), Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker for £20.99 (30% off) and Ghostwire: Tokyo for £24.99 (50% off).
