Valorant is coming to mobile after the PC version ‘attracts 14 million monthly players’

Riot Games has announced plans to launch Valorant for mobile.

Wednesday’s announcement was timed to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the free-to-play PC game’s release on June 2, 2020.

Riot claims the team-based FPS has an average of more than 14 million monthly players, and that over half a billion games of Valorant have been played to date.

The company said it is “preparing to expand the franchise – starting with Valorant Mobile – in order to bring Valorant to more players around the world”, although it didn’t confirm when the new version of the game will arrive.

Riot said it plans to commemorate Valorant’s one-year anniversary with a month-long celebration gifting members of the community rewards including a redeemable player card and a free event pass.

Valorant is a 5v5 character-based tactical FPS from League of Legends developer Riot Games

“One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that Valorant will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter,” said Anna Donlon, executive producer of Valorant at Riot Games.

“To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with Valorant is beyond what we could’ve expected and we’re thrilled to soon offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more global players.”

Donlon said in June 2020 that Riot was exploring the possibility of bringing Valorant to consoles.
