US retailers have discounted Cyberpunk 2077 by as much as half price
Best Buy offers $30 discount one month after release
US retailers have begun heavily discounting Cyberpunk 2077 little more than a month after its release.
Leading specialist consumer electronics retailer Best Buy is currently offering the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game for $29.99, down from $59.99 at launch.
Walmart has also cut the price of Cyberpunk 2077 to $37.99 on PS4 (down from $49.94), while Amazon’s US arm was reportedly offering the game for half price on Monday too, although that wasn’t the case when we checked.
Cyberpunk 2077’s price hasn’t dropped to the same extent in the UK, with Amazon the cheapest VGC spotted at £41.95 for the PS4 version.
Following three delays, the highly anticipated RPG released with a host of technical problems, most notably on last-gen consoles, resulting in refunds being offered and the title being pulled from the PlayStation Store.
Last week CD Projekt’s co-founder and joint CEO Marcin Iwinski issued a public apology for Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled launch and outlined the company’s commitment to improving the game over the coming months via a series of performance-enhancing patches, which will be followed by free DLC and a next-gen update later this year.
Buy Cyberpunk 2077
While recommending the game on last-gen consoles comes with some caveats, VGC hasn’t experienced any major issues with the Xbox One version of Cyberpunk 2077 when played on Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility.
Despite its issues, Cyberpunk 2077 has enjoyed a very successful commercial launch, selling over 13 million copies as of December 22, according to CD Project.
In a research note distributed last week, market research firm DFC Intelligence said recent events have made CD Projekt “one to watch as an acquisition candidate”.
