Until Dawn remake ending teases potential sequel
An Until Dawn film is currently in production
The newly released Until Dawn remake may be teasing a follow-up.
The remake, which was released on Friday, contains two new ending cutscenes that may point to a future for the series.
Spoilers for the new ending follow below…
The remake of the game now features two new endings cutscenes.
The first of which features Josh, who was originally played by Rami Malek. While Josh faces a grizzly fate in the original game, this new ending reveals that Josh survived his original fate. The scene focuses on Josh as a voiceover from another character hints that Josh may find some redemption.
The second scene features Sam, the game’s main character, who was originally played by Hayden Panettiere. The scene starts years after the ending of the original game, with Sam in bed. As she wakes, she notices blood pouring from a wound, which she is unable to stop.
A voice is heard calling her name as the scene ends. It would appear that Hayden Panettiere returned to work on this scene, as the actress appears in new interviews about the project as part of the remake.
Until Dawn is developed by Woking, UK-based Ballistic Moon, which last month announced significant layoffs intended to “secure the future” of the studio.
Ballistic Moon was founded in 2020 by Duncan Kershaw, Neil McEwan and Chris Lamb, who all previously worked together at Supermassive Games, the developer behind 2015’s Until Dawn for PS4.
A feature film based on Until Dawn, which is being helmed by Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation and Shazam director David F. Sandberg, started shooting in August.
