Universal Studios Hollywood has started selling Nintendo World merchandise
Construction has already started on the Hollywood park, which is likely to be first in US
Universal Studios Hollywood has started selling Super Nintendo World merchandise, marking the first time theme park-related items have been available outside of Japan.
In a tweet published on Friday, Nintendo confirmed the items include character plushes, Mario and Luigi hats, and Mario-themed pullstring bags.
It’s not clear if other items will be made available at Universal Studios Hollywood ahead of Super Nintendo World’s US opening, but as detailed in our Super Nintendo World merchandise guide, the Japanese park has a plethora of unique items available to purchase.
That includes the exclusive TokoToko Mario toys, Mario Kart watches and jackets, Metallic Nano Puzzles of Peach’s Castle and Koopa’s Fortress (Bowser’s Castle) and more.
Super Nintendo World is due to open at Universal Studios’ Hollywood and Florida locations, though the former looks likely to be the first US park to open, with construction already underway.
Construction resumed on the Southern California version of Super Nintendo World in March, after a year closure caused by the pandemic.
According to Inside the Magic, the land space being used for Hollywood’s Nintendo World is smaller than its Japanese counterpart, which could lead to some attractions being cut.
Yoshi’s Adventure, the family ride which takes place both indoors and outside high above the park, seems to be missing from images of the ongoing construction.
Earlier this year the world’s first Super Nintendo World attraction opened to the public at Universal Studios Japan. The Osaka-based attraction was due to open in Summer 2020 but this was delayed to February 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. A Singapore park is also scheduled to be built in the future.
