Uncharted remasters get PS5 release date, graphics, pricing and upgrade details

Sony has announced the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves PS5 release date, alongside details of the collection’s graphics updates, pricing and upgrade options.

Containing remasters of Uncharted 4 and its expansion The Lost Legacy, the PS5 version of Legacy of Thieves will be released on January 28, 2022, with the PC version to follow later in the year.

The PS5 version will be available physically and digitally for $49.99 / £44.99 / €49.99. Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, or Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End & Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Digital Bundle owners will be able to upgrade to the PS5 collection for $10 / £10 / €10 at launch.

Owners of PS4 disc copies will need to insert the original game into the PS5 each time they want to download or play the PS5 digital version. PS4 game disc owners who also own the PS5 Digital Edition console won’t be able to get the PS5 version for the discounted price.

The offer isn’t open to PlayStation Plus members who claimed Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End via the subscription service.

UPDATE: Coinciding with Tuesday’s PS5 release date announcement, Sony has pulled the standalone versions of Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy from sale on the PlayStation Store, removing one avenue for players to upgrade to the remasters cheaply.

ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: Sony also confirmed on Tuesday that Legacy of Thieves won’t include the multiplayer mode included with the original games.

In a PlayStation Blog post, Sony marketing exec Annabelle Hua claimed PS5 load times are “near instant” and said the game benefits from spatial 3D audio, as well as DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

PS5 players will be able to choose from the following graphics options:

• Fidelity Mode – For those of you who have a 4K display and want super sharp resolution above all else to enjoy the stunning environments and details the Uncharted series is known for, select Fidelity Mode and play in native 4K resolution with a 30fps target framerate.
• Performance Mode – We carried over the high framerate PS4 patch with Performance Mode, which targets a 60fps frame rate.
• Performance+ Mode – If you’re all about the smoothest gameplay possible and don’t mind a resolution drop, try out our first ever Performance+ Mode which targets 120fps at a 1080p resolution.

Until February 3, 2022, players in the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand who purchase or upgrade to Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5 via PlayStation Store will receive a voucher code for one standard ticket to see the Uncharted movie in participating cinemas.

Sony previously said that the PC version of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, which is being developed by Iron Galaxy, will arrive “shortly after” the PS5 version.
