The Sunday Times has revealed the UK’s top 30 richest game developers and players.

The inaugural edition of the Gaming Rich List – a video game themed version of its long-running Rich List – leads with Russian-born brothers Igor and Dmitry Bukhman, with an estimated fortune of £12.5 billion.

The pair, who were also placed 27th in the overall Sunday Times Rich List 2024, are the co-founders of Playrix, creators of popular mobile games Township, Fishdom, and Homescapes.

While the list is largely dominated by game developers – including notable names like Grand Theft Auto leads Sam and Dan Houser, who are ranked 4th with an estimated wealth of £350 million – other names include Game retail boss Neil Taylor, who co-founded the chain of stores.

Other notable names in the list include King co-founder and former CEO Riccardo Zacconi (with an estimated wealth of £410 million), Garry’s Mod creator Garry Newman (£335 million), Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray (£94 million) and Rebellion founders Chris and Jason Kingsley (£120 million).

No Man’s Sky has survived its rocky launch to become an overall huge success, earning Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray an estimated wealth of £94 million.

Luca Galante, the developer behind the smash indie hit Vampire Survivors, also reportedly has a value of £40m.

Content creators also make the list, with “KSI and The Sidemen” ranked at joint 21st with an estimated wealth of £50 million.

While KSI (real name Olajide Olatunji) is a part-owner of The Sidemen brand with several other YouTubers, the listing appears to cover everything earned by the brand as a whole, making reference to their clothing line, vodka brand and restaurant chain.
