Ubisoft says it’s investigating ‘wrong’ PS4 Far Cry 6 versions in Europe
Some box owners claim they can’t upgrade to PS5 due to Russian region version
Ubisoft says it’s investigating reports that the wrong region version of Far Cry 6 for PS4 is being sold in some European territories, and blocking upgrades to PS5.
In a statement issued to VGC, the company said: “The team is aware of reports that some players are unable to upgrade their PlayStation 4 version of Far Cry 6 to the PlayStation 5 version. We are investigating the issue and will provide an update ASAP.”
Since its release last week, users in multiple European territories including the UK, Germany and Greece have claimed that they’ve received the Russian version of Far Cry 6 on social media and Ubisoft’s official support forum.
Crucially, this means that those who are unlucky enough to receive the wrong region version of the PS4 game cannot upgrade it to PlayStation 5.
As demonstrated by Twitter user SJPearson85, PS5 users can solve the issue by creating a Russian PlayStation account.
However, they will not be able to access their DLC via this method, such as the extra content included with premium editions of the game.
It’s not the first time this issue has been reported for Ubisoft’s games: last year some users claimed they had received Russian region versions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on PS4 in the UK, which was also blocking them from upgrading to PS5.
This issue was again reportedly solved by changing to a Russian PlayStation account.
