Ubisoft reportedly adds Denuvo to Assassin’s Creed Mirage PC in day one patch

Ubisoft has reportedly added controversial Denuvo anti-tamper technology to the PC version of Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Seemingly confirming pre-release leaks suggesting the game would be using Denuvo, it was introduced as part of a day one patch, according to reports online.

The DRM tech has been the source of controversy for some time now, as some players believe it can have an adverse effect on PC game performance.

However, following its introduction to the game overnight, it’s been claimed that “pre-patch and post-patch performance is exactly the same (and the stuttering is the same)”.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is released today for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, with an iPhone 15 Pro version set to follow in early 2024.

Denuvo’s addition to the game wasn’t mentioned in a launch day title update announced by Ubisoft on Wednesday (we’ve republished the patch notes in full below).

Title update 1.0.2 will be released for all supported platforms today at 2pm UTC / 3pm UK / 10am ET / 7am PT. However, on PC, Ubisoft said the update was included in the 41.6 GB game files pre-release.

According to VGC’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage review, the game’s “short, sharp trip through the blood-soaked streets of Baghdad” offers “a welcome return to the series’ roots” and feels like “a breath of fresh air in the endless sea of open world adventure games”.
