Ubisoft officially announces The Division 2: Warlords of New York
Expansion will feature core gameplay enhancements based on player feedback
Ubisoft has officially announced The Division 2’s “narrative-driven expansion” Warlords of New York, which will release for consoles and PC on March 3.
The expansion, which will be available either as DLC for existing players or via a standalone version, sees players return to the first game’s New York City.
The campaign has The Division on the hunt for Aaron Keener, a former Agent who’s gone rogue, along with his band of Rogue Agents.
After completing The Division 2 Warlords of New York campaign, players will then be able to fast travel freely between Washington DC and New York City.
Ubisoft claims the game’s developer, Massive, has gathered feedback from players to enhance several core gameplay areas, including build diversity, gear streamlining and loot.
Along with Warlords of New York, the game’s Title Update 8 will include an RPG overhaul, allowing players to read and manage their gear inventory more easily, Ubisoft said.
The existing Dark Zones in The Division 2 are also being revitalised, returning to a simpler rogue mechanic.
In the new expansion, players’ level cap will increase from Level 30 to Level 40, but it will also introduce an infinite progression system, the SHD level, and 4 new skills that can be used throughout the game.
The expansion will also introduce a new post-launch initiative called Seasons: a 3-month-long themed endgame event with a new main target and his network to track down, each with their own stories and unique rewards.
The first Season begins one week after the release of The Division 2 Warlords of New York.
