Ubisoft Montreal’s Roller Champions is being released next week
For PC, Xbox and PlayStation, with the Switch and other versions to follow at a later date
Roller Champions will be released on May 25, Ubisoft has confirmed.
Announced in 2019 and originally scheduled for release the following year, Roller Champions is a free-to-play online sports game developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
It will be available next week for Xbox One and PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 via backward compatibility, and for PC through the Ubisoft Store.
It will also be coming to Nintendo Switch, the Epic Games Store, Stadia and Amazon Luna at a later date.
“In each match, you and two teammates will face off against another team of three in an elliptical arena,” Ubisoft says. “The goal is straightforward – reach five points before your opponents do – and the basics are easy to grasp.
“Keep control of the ball by skating and passing, steal it from your opponents with a well-timed tackle, and make a full lap of the arena to open up the goal and take your shot.
“Once you’ve got the fundamentals down, you can level up your game by practicing and socializing in the skatepark hub, and then using your skills in matches to execute team manoeuvres and do multiple laps to increase the points each goal is worth.”
Roller Champions will support cross-play and cross-progression at launch.
It will also feature a free Roller Pass, which players can progress through to unlock cosmetic items for their skater, and a premium version offering access to exclusive gear that won’t be available in the item shop.
