Ubisoft isn’t planning to hold its own E3-style showcase in June

Ubisoft won’t be holding a major product showcase this month.

The French publisher has traditionally held a conference each summer—almost always in June— to coincide with E3, but a company spokesperson told Axios that won’t be the case in 2022.

The Ubisoft rep said the company isn’t planning another product showcase until “later this year.”

The Assassin’s Creed maker held its first fully digital conference, Ubisoft Forward, in July 2020 after E3 was cancelled amid Covid-19 concerns. It claimed the format was a success, attracting concurrent viewership that surpassed Ubisoft’s previous E3 conferences.

Ubisoft Forward events were also held in September 2020 and in June 2021.

In March, several sources told reliable industry insider Tom Henderson that Ubisoft was planning a major digital showcase which was supposed to air prior to a potential E3 show this summer, but that those plans could have been put on hold due to recent world events.

E3 2022 was subsequently cancelled, but Summer Game Fest 2022 is expected to fill the void somewhat, with “events, activities and updates for fans from more than 30 partners” scheduled for June.

Ubisoft, which wasn’t on a list of Summer Game Fest partners released on Tuesday, is reportedly working on several unannounced titles including The Crew 3, Assassin’s Creed Rift, a 2.5D Prince of Persia game and an Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel.
