Ubisoft hosting ‘E3-style’ games showcase in July
Digital conference promises exclusive game news and reveals
Ubisoft will host an “E3-style” digital games showcase on Sunday July 12.
Titled Ubisoft Forward, the publisher’s first fully digital conference promises to include exclusive game news and product reveals.
The event will begin at 12pm PT / 8pm UK.
Following E3 2020’s cancellation in March due to disruption caused by the coronavirus, Ubisoft said it would explore the possibility of holding an online event instead of its traditional E3 press conference.
The company announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla earlier this month. Developed by the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins team at Ubisoft Montreal (plus 14 support studios), the Viking themed game will be released during the 2020 holiday season for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia and PC.
Other games set for release during Ubisoft’s current fiscal year ending in March 2021 include the previously delayed Watch Dogs Legion, Gods & Monsters and Rainbow Six Quarantine, which will all be available on current and next-gen consoles.
VGC understands at least one of the titles, Watch Dogs Legion, is currently aiming to debut alongside Xbox Series X and PS5, should there be no significant disruption to production.
Further details about Ubisoft Forward could be announced when the publisher reports its full-year earnings this Thursday, May 14.
VGC revealed in January that Ubisoft had restructured its editorial team, which oversees the creative direction of its games and IPs, following the disappointing commercial performance of 2019 releases The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
