Total War: Pharaoh has been announced ahead of an October release

Sega has announced Total War: Pharaoh, the newest entry in Creative Assembly’s long-running grand strategy series.

The game will be available for PC digitally in October 2023 via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Set during the events of the Egyptian New Kingdom period, Total War: Pharaoh lets players determine the fate of three cultures (Egyptian, Canaanite, Hittite) fighting for survival.

“Experience Ancient Egypt during the vibrant and tumultuous era of the Bronze Age Collapse and master dynamic real-time battles and turn-based empire management to rise above your adversaries and become Egypt’s last great Pharaoh,” Sega said.

Eight playable factions will be included in the base game, which promises a brand-new Campaign Customisation feature that lets players tailor the experience with “random starting positions for all factions, detailed resource settings, the ability to toy with natural disasters and much more”.

Total War: Pharaoh will also support two-player co-op and head-to-head mode, with cross-play enabled for Steam and Epic users.

“There are few periods more iconic than Ancient Egypt; fraught with political intrigue, cataclysmic events and grand war campaigns, it’s the perfect setting for a Total War title,” said game director Todor Nikolov.

“As Pharaoh, you must save Egypt from the cusp of destruction and guide your people through the calamitous Bronze-Age collapse. It is up to you to either survive or fade into history.”

Three editions of Total War: Pharaoh will be available at launch. The base game is priced at $59.99 / £49.99 / €59.99.

The Deluxe Edition, which includes DLC Faction Pack 1 and a digital soundtrack, costs $72.87 / £61.17 / €72.87.

The Dynasty Edition, which includes DLC Faction Pack 1, 2 and 3, the DLC Campaign Pack and a digital soundtrack, is priced at $91.46 / £77.96 / €91.46.

Players who pre-order the game will be able to take part in an exclusive early access weekend and receive the Avatar of the Gods Cosmetic Pack and Heart of the Shardana Cosmetic Pack.

A physical edition of the game including a Steam download code, the cosmetic packs and a double-sided poster will be released at select retailers in Europe after the digital launch later this year.

The game will also be released on Mac and Linux after its PC launch.

The Total War franchise launched in 2000 and has sold over 42.5 million copies, according to Sega.
