Three Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay overview trailers released

Capcom shows off basic mechanics, Focus Mode and the Great Sword

Capcom has released three new overview trailers for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Viewable above and below, the short gameplay trailers include a rundown of some basic movement and combat mechanics, including Slinger functions, and abilities while riding a Seikret, a mountable monster that can automatically guide players to their next target, among other features.

One video shows off a new mechanic called Focus Mode, which enables players to carefully aim attacks or guards. It also highlights enemy wounds which can be targeted to deal extra damage, as well as any weak points monsters have exposed.

Each weapon in the game has a unique Focus Strike, and one of the three trailers offers an overview of the Great Sword, a weighty weapon with slower movement but powerful attacks, which can also be used for guarding.

Announced at The Game Awards last December, Monster Hunter Wilds will be released in 2025.

Featuring cross-play support, the game will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

“Monster Hunter Wilds looks like a crowning moment in Capcom’s second golden age,” VGC wrote following a behind-closed-doors showcase of the game in June.
