Three Black Ops Cold War campaign missions have been detailed
Amsterdam, Vietnam, and Russia levels shown off
Raven Software has detailed three of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s campaign missions.
Set for release on PC, current and next-gen consoles on November 13, Cold War is described as the direct sequel to the original Black Ops.
And in a new blog post featuring “light spoilers”, Raven senior creative director Dan Vondrak offered a look at three story missions: Nowhere Left to Run, Fracture Jaw and Desperate Measures.
Taking place in 1982, Nowhere Left to Run is the game’s first mission. Reintroducing characters Woods and Mason, and introducing new hero Russell Adler, it features a rooftop chase and shootout in Amsterdam before concluding with a “bombastic over the top moment” as players track a target on a Turkish airfield in a set-piece featuring a radio-controlled car packed with explosives.
The campaign’s second level, Fracture Jaw, takes the form of a Vietnam flashback in which players get to pilot a helicopter and engage in ground battles through jungles and paddy fields. The mission sees players relive an encounter with Perseus, a shadowy figure “on a mission to destabilise the global balance of power and change the course of history”.
In Desperate Measures, players are tasked with going behind enemy lines and infiltrating the KGB headquarters as a double agent. “Using the latest in 1980s technology including modified civilian tools and prototypical machines”, players are given multiple ways to complete their objective.
