‘They should be covered in sh*t’: Hideki Kamiya says Switch 2 leakers are ‘trash’

Hideki Kamiya has made his feelings on leakers clear with a lengthy rant on social media.

The Bayonetta director, who is currently working on an Okami sequel with his new team at Clovers Studio, took to X to call out anyone who leaked Switch 2 details before Nintendo revealed the console on Thursday.

“I hope that all those who leaked Switch 2 information will be cursed for the rest of their lives to have poo on the soles of their shoes whenever they go home,” Kamiya wrote (via machine translation).

“Now that I’ve been able to enjoy the surprise announcement of the new Okami with everyone else, I think all those damn leakers should be cursed.”

Kamiya went on to argue that leakers are only acting in their own self-interests for clout and attention, rather than actually contributing anything beneficial for the industry.

“The scumbag leaker is only acting for his own pleasure and self-satisfaction,” he wrote. “Not only is he not benefitting anyone, he’s also causing all kinds of opportunity losses, and he’s a piece of trash who has nothing to be proud of.

“He should be covered in shit and thrown out of the atmosphere, and then stop thinking and wander around forever.”

He concluded: “The scumbags are in a position of responsibility where they have access to information that only a very small number of people know about, but all they do is act on their dirty, irrational need for approval.

“They are the ones who should be blamed, not the manufacturers whose secrets were exposed, and they need to be crushed as soon as possible.”

Numerous aspects of the Switch 2 hardware were leaked (including by third-party peripheral manufacturers) weeks before Nintendo‘s reveal on Thursday, meaning many elements of its video – such as the design of the console, an extra Joy-Con button, magnetised connections and potential mouse controls – were already known.

Kamiya managed to avoid such leaks when his latest project, a sequel to Okami, was revealed during The Game Awards last month.

Kamiya’s new studio, Clovers Studio, is working in partnership with Capcom to develop a new adventure in the critically acclaimed adventure series.
