The Xbox app now lets players stream their Xbox One games to iOS devices
Remote play feature recently launched for Android devices too
A new update to the Xbox app enables users to stream their Xbox One games to iPhones and iPads.
Xbox remote play lets users play Xbox One titles downloaded to their console including Xbox Game Pass titles.
It will also support Xbox Series X/S games, but currently excludes backward compatible titles from Xbox 360 and the original Xbox.
The remote play feature recently launched for Android devices too.
Remote play is different to Microsoft’s xCloud service, which launched in beta in September as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Using a compatible controller, it enables users to play over 100 Xbox games on Android devices streamed directly from servers.
Microsoft is reportedly planning to bring its Game Pass app to iPhone and iPad devices via a “direct browser-based solution” next year.
The Xbox firm was forced to delay the launch of Game Pass on iOS this summer, after Apple blocked the game streaming app from its platform, citing its requirement that it be able to certify every game that appears on the App Store.
Microsoft is also working to bring Xbox Game Pass streaming to console and PC.
