The Witcher 4’s game director has been revealed
Sebastian Kalemba was formerly CD Projekt Red’s animation director
The game director of The Witcher 4 has been confirmed.
In a tweet published on Thursday morning, CD Projekt Red’s Sebastian Kalemba said he’s been appointed to direct the new Witcher saga, which was recently confirmed to be a trilogy of games.
“Career news: I’m directing the new Witcher Saga,” he wrote. “Since joining CD Projekt Red I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for.”
According to his LinkedIn profile, Kalemba joined the Polish studio in October 2014.
He initially served as lead animator for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, before being promoted to head of animation for the whole company.
Prior to his appointment as game director in October, he also spent 15 months as a creative director.
In October, CD Projekt outlined its development slate for the foreseeable future, including a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, the new trilogy of Witcher games, Witcher spin-offs, and the studio’s first original IP.
All three games in the new Witcher trilogy are planned to be released within a six-year period after the first.
More recently, CD Projekt announced that a “full-fledged remake” of the original The Witcher game had entered production using Unreal Engine 5.
It was confirmed last week that Henry Cavill will step down from his role as Geralt of Rivia following season 3 of Netflix‘s The Witcher series. The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth will take over the role for season 4.
