The Witcher 3 coming to Switch in 2019
Wild Hunt makes jump to Nintendo’s console this year
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released both physically and digitally on Nintendo Switch in 2019.
The news was confirmed during the Nintendo Direct E3 broadcast, with a trailer showing developer CD Projekt Red’s RPG running on Nintendo’s console. It marks the first time the series will be available on a Nintendo platform.
The Switch version will come with the base game as well as “every piece of additional content ever released”, including both story expansions – Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine – and 16 DLC packs.
“In total, the Complete Edition offers over 150 hours of gameplay, for the first time playable truly on the go,” CD Projekt Red said in a press release.
“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an RPG set in a fantastic open world full of adventure, danger, and mystery. As professional monster slayer Geralt of Rivia, gamers must set out to find the Child of Prophecy — a powerful entity that may send the world spiraling toward destruction. Along the way, the witcher will find himself facing not only mighty foes, but also difficult choices, the consequences of which will ripple throughout the game’s epic narrative.”
A Complete Edition collector set will also come with a set of physical goodies, including The Witcher Universe compendium, game map, and stickers.
According to publisher CD Projekt, the Witcher series has sold some 33 million copies across three releases since launching in 2007. The critically acclaimed Wild Hunt originally released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2015.
