The Switch remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns will retail for $60
Nintendo store page confirms pricing for ‘HD’ version
Nintendo’s upcoming remaster of Wii title Donkey Kong Country Returns will retail for $60 in North America, the game’s eShop pre-order page has confirmed.
The pricing is in line with Nintendo’s other recent ‘HD’ remasters, including Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Another Code: Recollection, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, which were also $60.
However, some other recent titles, including Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime Remastered – remakes of Game Boy Advance and GameCube games – retailed for less at $50.
Donkey Kong Country Returns was originally released in 2010 on the Nintendo Wii. Developed by Retro Studios, the game was a commercial success, selling over 6 million copies.
The 3DS port of the game, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, was developed by Monster Games and released in 2013.
The new ‘HD’ version is being developed by Polish publisher and developer Forever Entertainment SA, the company behind 2020’s Panzer Dragoon Remake, The House of the Dead Remake in 2022, Front Mission 1st Remake in 2022 and Front Mission 2 Remake earlier this year.
Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will be released on January 16, 2025 for Nintendo Switch. The game includes 80 levels, including the new levels later added to the 3DS version.
