The Steam Game Festival returns in October
Digital event will again feature demos of unreleased games
The Steam Game Festival will return for an autumn edition later this year.
Offering access to demos of unreleased games, the digital event is the work of The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley.
It originally premiered as a spin-off to the awards show in December 2019, before returning in March and June 2020.
“Valve is planning another Steam Game Festival: Autumn Edition this Fall, running October 7 – 13,” Keighley said. “Another chance to play free previews of upcoming games.”
The first Steam Game Festival featured limited time demos of 14 unreleased games coinciding with the annual awards show.
The second one offered demos of some 40 titles originally scheduled to be shown at GDC before its cancellation, while the most recent summer edition included over 900 demos.
The format expanded to Xbox in late July, when over 60 demos for unreleased games were available to sample for one week through a Game Fest Demo tile on the Xbox One dashboard.
Keighley will host Gamescom: Opening Night Live on August 27. “We’re planning a spectacular show that will also be the grand finale of Summer Game Fest,” he said in May.
