The Simpsons Hit & Run soundtrack has been released on Apple Music and Spotify
The game was developed by Radical Entertainment and released in 2003
The Simpsons Hit & Run soundtrack has been quietly released on Apple Music & Spotify.
The soundtrack features instrumental tracks from the game and has been unavailable for purchase since its original release on Universal’s music label in 2003.
As pointed out by the popular animation Twitter account Out of Context 20th Century Fox, the soundtrack release comes as part of several The Simpson’s soundtracks that have finally been added to streaming platforms.
Originally developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games, the open-world Springfield simulator was a huge hit and became a fan-favorite during the PS2 era.
While the game received good reviews (it currently holds a 78 on reviews aggregator Metacritic), it has built up a loyal fan-base, thanks in no small part to its release following the absolute peak of The Simpson’s popularity in the early 2000s.
The game has never been re-released, despite creator interest in the project. Following The Simpsons Hit & Run, EA acquired the license to the franchise and released a console game based on The Simpson’s Movie.
It would later release The Simpson’s Tapped Out, a mobile game that as of 2020 passed $200m in profit from in-game purchases.
