The Resident Evil 3 demo is available now via region change
Project Resistance open beta also spotted on Microsoft Store
The Resident Evil 3 demo is available to download now from the Microsoft Store in New Zealand.
Capcom said on Monday that will release a Resident Evil 3 remake demo for Xbox One, PS4 and Steam on Thursday, March 19.
However, when VGC checked on Wednesday the demo was listed as available to download from the web version of the Microsoft Store if we switched our region to New Zealand, which is 13 hours ahead of GMT.
UPDATE: The Resident Evil 3 demo is available now globally on all platforms.
ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: According to Twitter user Jawmuncher, the demo is a 7.47GB download on Xbox One. At the time of publication it’s being streamed by Twitch user Hazeblade.
Capcom also said on Monday that it will launch an open beta for Resident Evil 3’s new asymmetric multiplayer mode, Resident Evil Resistance, on March 27.
However, this too was listed as available on the Microsoft Store in New Zealand when we looked on Wednesday. Whether it’s playable yet or not is another matter.
Resident Evil 3 was announced in December with an April 3, 2020 release date.
The remake follows Jill Valentine as she attempts to escape Raccoon City in the immediate aftermath of a virus outbreak, before the events of Resident Evil 2.
VGC recently published a Resident Evil 3 remake hands-on report featuring new details and screenshots.
“While we can’t yet assess just how good Resident Evil 3 Remake will turn out to be when played all the way through, our hands-on with the game left us wanting more,” it reads.
“Like Resident Evil 2 Remake – which, if anything, it outclasses in graphical terms – it felt like it had been judiciously and intelligently assembled, in such a way as to preserve the original game’s nature, while dragging it firmly into the 21st century.”
