The Outer Worlds Switch release date confirmed
Obsidian RPG makes the jump to Nintendo’s console in March
The Outer Worlds will be released for Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2020.
It will cost $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 / AU$ 89.99 and will be available as a boxed version (containing a download code) and digital version via the Nintendo eShop.
The Switch version of Obsidian’s RPG is being ported by Virtuous, which also brought Dark Souls Remastered and Starlink to the platform.
Obsidian’s RPG released in October for Xbox One, PS4 and PC and is also available via Xbox Game Pass for console and PC.
In an interview published in September 2019, the game’s narrative designer Megan Starks said The Outer Worlds is looking “really exciting” on Nintendo Switch,
“Matt [Singh, producer], who was in the announcement trailer, is a huge Nintendo fan: it was the highlight of his life to work on that deal.”
She added: “I think fans will enjoy it. I know people were really excited about some of the other large titles that came out for Switch, so I think people will really enjoy it. It’s going to be a great game for long commutes.”
Obsidian plans to release story DLC for The Outer Worlds in 2020.
And Microsoft, which acquired Obsidian in November 2018, has said it hopes to build The Outer Worlds into an “enduring franchise”.
