The Nintendo Music app has just added its 40th soundtrack
Super Mario Bros 2 is the latest game to be added to Nintendo’s ever-growing music app
The latest addition to Nintendo Music brings the app’s total soundtrack count to 40.
Nintendo has just added the soundtrack from Super Mario Bros 2 soundtrack, the fourth NES game to be added to the app.
Although the soundtrack is intially very short – it’s 14 tracks but just 8 minutes long – the looping nature of most of the tracks means players can extend their length by choosing the Extend To… setting and making them 15, 30 or 60 minutes long.
The Nintendo Music app, which was released in October 2024, lets Nintendo Switch Online members listen to a selection of soundtracks from Nintendo games.
A few days ago, Nintendo also added the StreetPass Mii Plaza soundtrack to Nintendo Music, marking the debut appearance of the 3DS in the app. This is a more substantial soundtrack, offering 39 tracks with a total running time (before extending) to 1 hour 23 minutes.
Nintendo has said it will continue to add more music to the app as time goes on. At the time of writing, thanks to the addition of Super Mario Bros 2, it now has 40 soundtracks with a total running time of nearly 95 hours.
The addition of Super Mario Bros 2 now means there are 11 Mario soundtracks on the app: Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Dr Mario, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Bros Wonder and Super Mario Odyssey.

The current list of available soundtracks spans almost the entirety of Nintendo’s home video game history, with soundtracks for games released on NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Switch, Game Boy, GBA and Nintendo DS.
Highlights include the soundtracks for the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Star Fox 64, Metroid Prime, the Wii Channels, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pikmin 4 and Splatoon 2 and 3.
