The new Xbox Series X model is reportedly a slight internal upgrade over the original
Smaller, cheaper internal components found
The newly released Xbox Series X models reportedly include an unannounced slight internal upgrade.
In a new video from Austin Evans, it’s claimed that the newly released models of the console, namely the white all-digital model and galaxy black special edition that was released this week, have slight performance upgrades when compared to the launch model.
While the upgrades are minor, both new machines appear to draw less power than the original, with the digital model reducing power draw by almost half when idle.
The new consoles feature a new heatsink method, as well as a new motherboard. The new Xbox Series X consoles are now also slightly lighter.
These changes mean that it’s likely that the new consoles are cheaper to produce.
The digital-only Xbox Series X, white 1TB Xbox Series S, and special edition 2TB ‘Galaxy Black’ Xbox Series X with a disc tray were all released this week. The consoles are available online at Microsoft retail locations.
Microsoft will stream its latest Xbox Partner Preview event this Thursday, October 17.
Kicking off at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT, the digital showcase will feature a mix of new and upcoming games from third-parties including Remedy Entertainment, Sega and 505 Games.
